Dear all,

I have two residents who are reporting that their internet gets really
slow sometimes and they occasionally even lose their connections. I'm
suspecting it is because they might be connecting to a WAP that is a
floor above or below them.

How can I check to make sure they are receiving their wireless signal
from the right WAP and if they are indeed connecting to a farther WAP,
how can I change it so that they are connecting to the closer one?

Thank you everyone.

So, is there any way to check to see which WAP the computer is
actually connecting to? If it is connecting to a WAP far away, is it
possible to manually change it to the closest WAP? Help would be much
appreciated. Thanks.

Thinkpads have the Access Connections software, which allows you to
distinguish the different WAPs using the same SSID. It's possible that other
wireless cards have a similar utility. For those that don't, sometimes
deleting the saved SSID and re-adding it can help. You can also email
***@rescomp with the hardware address to check which WAPs are being
connected to.
